Following the split of the group in 1979, Ford embarked upon a lucrative solo career in metal. Ford began to take vocal lessons. Her first solo release was 'Dancing On The Edge'. Ford could not do any success with either album and then she decided to leave the scene for 10 years. The year was 1988 when Ford debuted her wildly successful album 'Lita.' It became a huge hit for both the song "Kiss Me Deadly," along with the ballad , 'Close My Eyes Forever. Unfortunately, her success was short-lived as she disappeared from the industry for several years. Then she returned when she released "Black" in 1995 followed by 'Wicked wonderland' fifteen years after. in 2016, the most recent album, 'Time Capsule,' was made available. Guitar Player Magazine gave her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
